On September 9, 1974, 27-year-old white woman Nancy Carole Lossman was found murdered in her Crystal Lake, Illinois apartment. Her three-year-old daughter, Lisa, was also discovered deceased at the scene. Nancy's body bore multiple bite marks, a detail that would later become crucial in identifying her killer. Her six-year-old son, Robert, survived the attack, having been found unconscious due to smoke inhalation.
