Rossana Miliani, a 26-year-old woman from Miami, Florida, was last seen on December 7, 2005, in Bryson City, North Carolina. She had traveled to the area for a hiking trip and was spotted in a general store with an older man whose hair was graying. The man claimed to be a preacher who traveled to campsites along the Appalachian Trail. Witnesses described Miliani as appearing nervous during the encounter.
