On August 24, 1992, David Ford, a 35-year-old African American male, was fatally shot during an attempted armed robbery in Chicago's Chatham neighborhood. Ford was one of several victims in a violent spree attributed to Ralph Harris, a serial offender later dubbed "The Southside Strangler." Harris's crimes between 1992 and 1995 included multiple murders, sexual assaults, and armed robberies, predominantly targeting residents of Chicago's South Side.
