Henry Gurholdt, a white male from Scandinavia, Wisconsin, became one of the many victims of Belle Gunness, a notorious female serial killer operating in La Porte, Indiana, in the early 20th century. In 1905, Gurholdt traveled to La Porte with the intention of marrying Gunness, bringing with him $1,500. Shortly after his arrival, he vanished without a trace. His remains were later discovered on Gunness's property, identified in part by a watch matching one he owned.
