On January 17, 1975, the body of 46-year-old white male Robert Lee Shannahan was discovered in a Los Angeles hotel room. A hotel maid found him with a bayonet protruding from his chest, and evidence suggested he had been dead for several days. Shannahan was a U.S. Army veteran, born on August 10, 1928, in Florida. He was later buried in Weeks Chapel Cemetery in Newton County, Texas.
