On September 15, 2005, Susan Barker, a 63-year-old white woman, was found shot to death alongside her husband, Don Barker, age 62, in their home on White's Farm Road in Iredell County, North Carolina. The couple, well-known in their community, were discovered in their kitchen, victims of an apparent double homicide. The violent nature of the crime shocked the local residents, prompting an extensive investigation by the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.
