Anthony, who was playing in a neighbor's yard with his younger brother and friends, was abducted by Joseph Edward Duncan III, a convicted serial killer. Duncan initially attempted to kidnap Anthony's younger brother, but the boy managed to escape with Anthony's help. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
