Private Thomas Jefferson Goff, a 34-year-old Caucasian male, was a Texas Ranger assigned to Company C. On September 13, 1905, he was escorting a prisoner, Augustine Garcia, to jail in Terlingua, Texas, after Garcia had created a disturbance in a local saloon. During the escort, Garcia managed to obtain Goff's weapon and shot him, resulting in Goff's death.
