Hamill Poston Scott, a 42-year-old Special Deputy with the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office in Texas, tragically died on March 22, 1907, from injuries sustained during a foot pursuit. Scott was shot by a murder suspect, William Thomason, while chasing him after Thomason had killed Tarrant County attorney Jefferson McLean. The incident occurred during the Fort Worth Fat Stock Show, a large annual event in Fort Worth, TX.
