Special Officer Thomas Henry Bennett, aged 32, was shot and killed on September 10, 1908, while investigating a railroad box car burglary at the Dallas Street railroad crossing in Dallas, Texas. He encountered three suspects during his investigation and was shot once in the chest. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries the following day.
