Thomas Frederick Mounger, a 39-year-old white male, met a tragic end on September 27, 1911, in Sherman, Texas. Mounger, who served as a Deputy Constable for Grayson County, was responding to a report of a man looting a boxcar when he was fatally shot. Upon approaching the suspect, Mounger was confronted with a .45 caliber pistol and was shot, leading to his untimely death. The incident left behind a grieving family, including his wife and five children.
