Altie Haggard, a 14-year-old girl of Caucasian ethnicity, tragically died on December 25, 1929, in Vernon, Texas. Her death was part of a devastating incident that also claimed the lives of her father, J.H. Haggard, and her four siblings. The family was found shot to death in their poverty-stricken home on December 29, 1929. The investigation revealed that J.H. Haggard had shot his children while they slept and then took his own life.
