Sergeant Ed Holcomb Jr., aged 31, of the Conroe Police Department in Texas, tragically lost his life on August 24, 1982. He was shot with a rifle while responding to a domestic dispute call at a mobile home. Sergeant Holcomb and three other officers had arrived at the scene and learned from the suspect's wife that the suspect was inside the home and possibly armed.
