Anne Mae Miculka Bennatt, a 70-year-old Caucasian woman, tragically lost her life on October 11, 1983, in Fort Bend County, Texas. Her death was part of a horrific spree killing carried out by Eliseo Hernandez Moreno. Moreno, estranged from his wife, embarked on a violent rampage that resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including Anne Mae Miculka Bennatt.
On that fateful day, Moreno's spree began in College Station, Texas, where he murdered his brother-in-law, Juan Garza, and
Garza's wife, Esther. He then continued his rampage, killing a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper, Russell Lynn Boyd, who had pulled him over for a traffic violation near Hempstead. Trooper Boyd was shot multiple times, including a fatal shot to the head.
Anne Mae Miculka Bennatt, a retired nurse, was one of the victims in Hempstead. Alongside her, her sister, Allie Wilkins, aged 79, and her brother-in-law, James Bennatt, aged 62, were also brutally murdered by Moreno. The method of murder was shooting with a .357-caliber Magnum.
Eliseo Hernandez Moreno was arrested on the same day of the murders. He was later sentenced to death for his crimes and was executed by lethal injection on March 4, 1987. Moreno's killing spree and subsequent trial garnered significant attention, highlighting the devastating impact of his actions on the victims' families and the community.
