Bassam I. Saah, a 34-year-old male of Middle Eastern descent, was tragically killed on December 24, 1989, in Houston, Texas. He worked as a store clerk at the Budget Store food mart, which he and his brother owned. On that fateful Christmas Eve, Saah was last seen alive at approximately 7:15 PM by a witness leaving the store. Shortly after, two witnesses entered the store and found the cash register open with money on the floor, but no clerk behind the counter.
Upon calling the police, Saah's body was discovered behind the store counter, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed that a witness observed a young Black male, approximately 5'9" tall, with a slim build, wearing blue jeans, a dark-colored trench coat, and black tennis shoes, running away from the scene. Despite extensive efforts by the Houston Police Department Homicide Division Cold Case Squad, no arrests have been made, and the case remains unsolved to this day. The Houston Police Department continues to request anyone with information about this murder to come forward.
