Adrianne Jessica Jones, a 16-year-old girl from Mansfield, Texas, was tragically murdered on December 3, 1995. Adrianne was an athletic and fun-loving high school sophomore who was well-liked by her peers. She was also a gifted runner and an honor student who aspired to attend Texas A&M University and become a behavioral analyst.
On the night of her death, Adrianne left her house after speaking to someone on the phone and was later seen leaving the house by her brother around 2 a.m.
Her body was discovered the next morning by a farmer on a rural road, where she had been brutally beaten and shot twice. The investigation revealed that Adrianne had blunt force trauma to the head and two gunshot wounds, one in her left cheek and another in her forehead.
The case went cold for several months until August 1996, when two cadets at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, reported that their friend, Diane Zamora, had confessed to the murder. Diane, who was in a relationship with David Graham, a high school student from Mansfield, revealed that she and David had killed Adrianne. David had given Adrianne a ride home from a cross-country meet in November 1995, and they had a sexual encounter behind an elementary school. Diane, enraged by the incident, demanded that David kill Adrianne.
David and Diane were both arrested and later convicted of capital murder. David Graham was sentenced to 60 years in prison, while Diane Zamora received a life sentence without the possibility of parole. The case, known as the "Texas Cadet Murder," gained widespread attention and was even featured in a Lifetime movie titled "The Texas Cadet Murder."
Adrianne's death was a tragic and senseless act that shook the small community of Mansfield, Texas, and led to the conviction of two young individuals whose lives were forever altered by their actions.
