Molly Olgin, a 19-year-old woman, was tragically murdered on June 22, 2012, in Violet Andrews Park in Portland, Texas. She and her girlfriend, Mary Kristene Chapa, were attacked and shot while spending time together at the park. The brutal nature of the crime, which included sexual assault and shooting, led to widespread media coverage and public outrage. Initially, there were suspicions that the attack was motivated by homophobia, given the nature of their relationship.
