Coty Beavers, a 28-year-old man from Houston, Texas, was tragically murdered on November 12, 2012. His death was part of a series of "honor killings" orchestrated by Ali Mahwood-Awad Irsan, a Jordanian-American conservative Muslim who disapproved of his daughter Nesreen Irsan's marriage to Beavers, a Christian. The murder was driven by Irsan's anger over his daughter's conversion to Christianity and her relationship with Beavers.
