Melissa Williams, a 36-year-old woman from McKinney, Texas, tragically lost her life on January 16, 2014. She was fatally shot by her estranged husband, Cedric McFail, while picking up her children from the Discovery Learning Center daycare. Witnesses reported that McFail approached Williams' vehicle and began arguing with her before firing multiple shots into the car, killing her instantly.

Following the shooting, McFail fled to a nearby home where he had a brief conversation with someone before taking his own life. The McKinney Police Department determined the incident to be a murder-suicide. Williams and McFail were in the process of divorcing at the time of the incident.
