Sgt. Triston James Johnson, a 23-year-old African American male, was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound on August 13, 2014, in Killeen, Texas. Johnson, who was serving as a combat engineer at Fort Hood, had entered active duty service in October 2009. He was a highly decorated soldier, having received several awards, including two Army Commendation Medals and a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
