Jimmy Castro-Almazan, a 21-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically shot and killed on December 15, 2014, in Denton, Texas. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the 1200 block of Paco Trail. According to reports, a witness heard gunshots and found Castro-Almazan lying on the ground. He was transported to Denton Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The suspect in the case is a 16-year-old boy who turned himself in to the Denton police shortly after the incident. The relationship between Castro-Almazan and the suspect is not entirely clear, but it is known that they both lived on Paco Trail. During a confrontation between the two, the suspect allegedly took out a small caliber firearm and fired multiple shots, striking Castro-Almazan once. The suspect remains in custody at Denton County Juvenile Detention, and the investigation is ongoing.
Jessica Almazan, the victim's wife, described her husband as a smart, funny, and caring man who was deeply devoted to his family. She mentioned that her husband was running away from the suspect when he was shot. Jessica heard two shots and rushed to her husband's side, holding him as he took his last breath. She believes that the suspect may have been scared, which led to the shooting. No charges have been filed yet, and the police have not disclosed what led to the confrontation.
