Alvin Kinney, a 60-year-old Brinks armored car guard, was tragically murdered on February 12, 2015, in Houston, Texas. Kinney was ambushed and shot by three armed assailants wearing body armor and face-shield masks as he was loading money into an armored vehicle outside a Capitol One bank in the Galleria area. The suspects used a stolen white Ford F-250 pickup truck to flee the scene.
Despite the return fire from a second Brinks guard, Kinney was fatally wounded and later pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
The investigation into Kinney's murder has been extensive, involving the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force. Authorities believe the suspects are linked to two other similar armed robberies in the Houston area, one in February 2014 at a Wells Fargo parking lot and another in July 2014 at a Capitol One branch. In both cases, a stolen white Ford pickup truck was used, and the suspects managed to escape with cash.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made in connection with Kinney's murder. The FBI and Crime Stoppers have offered a combined reward of up to $105,000 for information leading to the arrest and charges of the gunmen responsible for the killing. The family of Alvin Kinney has publicly pleaded for help in finding his killers, expressing their grief and desire for justice.
