Terrance Besaw, a 41-year-old man from Chillicothe, was tragically shot and killed on April 8, 2015, at a vacant rural residence west of Quanah, Texas. His body, along with that of Lisa Marie Waddle, 46, of Burkburnett, was discovered the following day. The investigation into their deaths revealed that the suspect, Gary Andrew Callaway, 31, believed Besaw was working as a snitch for law enforcement and confronted him after smelling anhydrous ammonia, a chemical used in methamphetamine
production. Callaway claimed he shot Besaw in self-defense after Besaw allegedly pulled a gun on him.
The case against Callaway included testimony from witnesses and physical evidence collected at the scene. Callaway's trial began in June 2016, where the prosecution argued that he went to the farmhouse with the intent to kill Besaw and that Waddle was killed because she was a witness. Callaway was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
In addition to Callaway, another suspect, Dimitri Alexander Graves, 24, was arrested and charged in connection with the double murder. The Texas Rangers played a key role in the investigation and arrests.
The tragic deaths of Besaw and Waddle led to significant legal proceedings, with the prosecution presenting a strong case against Callaway and securing a life sentence for him. The case highlighted the dangers of methamphetamine production and the violent confrontations that can arise from such activities.
