Jacobi Demond Alexander, a 31-year-old male of African American ethnicity, tragically lost his life on May 18, 2015, in Bellaire, TX. He was found shot multiple times in the courtyard of the Falls of Bellaire apartment complex at 6771 Westbranch Drive around 9:35 p.m. According to the Houston Police Department, Mr. Alexander was walking through a common area when he was approached by two unknown males who then shot him.
At the time, there was no known motive for the shooting.
Following an extensive investigation, Chimene Onyeri, a 28-year-old male, was arrested and charged with the murder of Jacobi Demond Alexander. Onyeri was taken into custody by members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force on November 9, 2015, and was later charged in the 184th State District Court. The investigation revealed that Onyeri was one of the two suspects who approached Mr. Alexander before the shooting occurred.
The case drew significant attention due to the subsequent charges against Onyeri in an unrelated case involving the shooting of a judge in Austin. This connection added complexity to the legal proceedings and highlighted the broader implications of Onyeri's criminal activities.
