On April 4, 2016, San Antonio police discovered the body of Ronald Lane Schubert, a 35-year-old white male, in an apartment located in the 6600 block of Fairdale. Officers responded to a welfare check and found that Schubert had died from a gunshot wound. Initial investigations led them to interview Jennifer Jennings, 37, who was identified as Schubert's girlfriend.
Jennings provided an alibi during her first interview; however, upon further investigation, authorities found inconsistencies in her statements. When confronted, Jennings admitted that Arthur Villarreal, 43, was responsible for Schubert's death. She revealed that she had been attempting to remove Schubert from her apartment for some time, and both she and Villarreal had discussed "taking him out" as a solution. Following this confession, both Jennings and Villarreal were arrested and charged with murder. Investigators indicated that additional arrests were possible as the investigation continued.
