Shante Isaacs, a 34-year-old transgender woman, was tragically killed on April 10, 2016, in Houston, Texas. She was attacked along with her friend Willie Sims, 33, on Dennis Street in Houston's Midtown area. The incident occurred late Sunday night when a group of about six people approached Isaacs and Sims. During the attack, one of the assailants pulled out a gun and fired at Isaacs, but the bullet struck Sims instead. The attackers then used metal pipes to beat both Isaacs and Sims.
