Amyira Mi'Heaven Felder, a four-year-old girl from Katy, Texas, tragically lost her life on September 15, 2016. The incident occurred when her father, Tarel Felder, killed her in an upstairs bedroom before taking his own life. The motive behind this heartbreaking act was reportedly Tarel's anger over his ex-girlfriend, Shonique Johnson, moving on and starting a new relationship.
Tarel had picked up Amyira from her mother's house in Louisiana and brought her to his mother's home in Katy for a few days.
Upon discovering the tragic scene, Dorian Felder, Tarel's mother, found her grandson dead and her granddaughter wounded. Amyira was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Life Flight, but doctors were unable to save her. The incident took place in the 5400 block of Plantation Forest Drive, and neighbors reported not having seen or heard anything unusual at the home.
Following the incident, Shonique Johnson, Amyira's mother, was devastated and had to travel to Houston to bring her daughter's body back home. The family set up a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of Amyira's funeral. The case did not lead to any arrests or ongoing litigation, as Tarel Felder died by suicide immediately after the incident.
This tragic event highlights the devastating impact of domestic disputes and the importance of addressing mental health issues. Amyira's story serves as a reminder of the need for support systems and resources for families going through difficult times.
