On October 1, 2016, DeAdrian Webster, a 15-year-old male student at Pewitt High School in Naples, Texas, tragically died from a gunshot wound. The incident occurred in the evening, and DeAdrian was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital. The community was deeply affected by the loss, and a candlelight vigil was held at the high school football field to honor his memory.
