Fawn Combs, a 20-year-old Caucasian female, tragically lost her life on February 28, 2017, in Van, Texas. The incident occurred in the family home where she resided with her mother, grandmother, and grandfather. On that fateful day, Fawn's grandfather, 68-year-old Terry Combs, fatally shot her and her grandmother, 67-year-old Brenda Combs, before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide.
The Van Zandt County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from Fawn's mother, 38-year-old Dawn Combs, who reported a disturbance involving a weapon. Dawn and her juvenile daughter managed to escape the home and call for help, but unfortunately, Fawn and Brenda were found dead inside the house from gunshot wounds.
The investigation revealed that Terry Combs had a history of domestic issues, with one previous call to the Van Zandt Sheriff's Office in 2010 for an assault. Despite being divorced, Terry and Brenda continued to live together in the same residence with their daughter Dawn and her two children. On the day of the incident, Terry reportedly threatened to shoot Brenda, prompting Dawn to flee the home with her younger daughter. Upon hearing gunshots, Dawn called the authorities, who arrived at the scene to find the bodies of Terry, Brenda, and Fawn.
The tragic event left the community in shock, as they mourned the loss of Fawn Combs and her grandmother. The investigation concluded that Terry Combs was responsible for the deaths, and no further arrests or suspects were identified. The case was classified as a murder-suicide, with Terry dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The bodies were transported to Forensic Medical of Texas in Tyler for autopsies, and the family was left to cope with the devastating loss.
