On October 3, 2017, 14-year-old Azeneth Pina, a freshman at Lake Highlands High School in Dallas, Texas, was tragically shot and killed. The incident occurred in the parking lot of her apartment complex on Whitehurst Drive near Skillman Street. Azeneth was sitting in a parked car with friends when a 16-year-old boy, who was playing with a gun, accidentally fired and struck her in the face. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Azeneth was pronounced dead shortly after.
