Yesenia Gutierrez, a 31-year-old Hispanic woman, tragically lost her life on May 18, 2018, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was fatally shot in her apartment while trying to protect her three-year-old son from two armed teenage boys who broke into her home. The boys, aged 13 and 14, were attempting to steal a phone and a video game device. Gutierrez's husband, Carlos Landa, discovered her in a pool of blood upon returning home from work.
