Bryan Portales Escalante, a 15-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically shot and killed on August 15, 2018, in the parking lot of the Innsbruck-Lemoyne apartment complex in northwest Houston, Texas. He was just one week away from his 16th birthday. Bryan was helping his mother with laundry when he received a text from a friend and left the apartment. Shortly after, he was confronted by three individuals in the parking lot.
During the altercation, one of the suspects shot Bryan multiple times, and the suspects also stole his cellphone, wallet, and shoes.
The suspects, Jashon Freeman , Jacorey Randolph , and Albert Edmond , were arrested and charged with capital murder. Spring Valley police pulled over the suspects' car after receiving a description from Houston police. The suspects were found with bloody clothes and drugs in their car. The case drew significant attention due to the young age of the victim and the violent nature of the crime.
