Samuel Earl Edmon, a 27-year-old male from Houston, Texas, tragically passed away on October 10, 2018. His death was the result of a shooting incident at an apartment complex near Interstate 45 and Rankin Road in north Houston. Edmon, who was African American, was shot by his girlfriend, Latousha Marshall, during an argument. Witnesses reported seeing Marshall arrive at the complex with a gun and heard her say she was going to kill Edmon.
She found him in a common area of the complex and shot him once with her .380-caliber pistol. The bullet went through his arm and into his torso, lodging in his chest, causing him to die almost instantly.
Following the shooting, Marshall was arrested and later convicted of murder. She was sentenced to 50 years in prison in June 2023. The court heard that Edmon was trying to leave the relationship when the violence escalated to murder. Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg commented on the case, noting that leaving a bad relationship is often the most dangerous time for the victim.
The case highlights the tragic consequences of domestic violence and the importance of seeking help and support in such situations. Marshall must serve at least half of her sentence before she is eligible for parole.
