On the night of January 11, he was driving an SUV along North Euclid Avenue, a thoroughfare in the city's northern sector. What initially appeared to be a routine traffic accident quickly evolved into a homicide investigation when first responders arrived at the scene. Doss’s vehicle had collided with a truck, and while he was found injured behind the wheel, closer inspection revealed that the crash was not the primary cause of his condition. Authorities discovered that he had sustained a gunshot wound to the head, which had caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
