Rogelio Ivan Cadena, a 20-year-old male from Midland, was sentenced to 22 years in prison for his involvement in the robbery attempt that led to Robert's death. Evidence showed that Cadena provided the guns used by two other suspects in the robbery. Although Cadena was not present during the robbery, his prior felony charges involving burglary and guns contributed to his lengthy sentence.
Zaydan Logan Hayes, who was 18 at the time of the crime, was charged with capital murder and sentenced to 99 years in prison. Hayes pleaded guilty to the murder and requested a jury to assess his punishment. The maximum punishment for his sentence was 99 years or life in prison, and he will not be eligible for parole until he has served 30 years of his sentence.
Larry West Jr., who was 17 at the time of the crime, was also charged with capital murder. Through a plea agreement with the District Attorney's Office, West was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 35 years in prison. The death penalty was never a possibility for West due to his age at the time of the offense. West's co-defendants, including Hayes, were involved in a marijuana exchange that resulted in Robert's death. The suspects left Robert for dead, and his body was found days later.
