In the autumn of 2014, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace of a north St. Louis neighborhood, leaving a family grieving and a community searching for answers. The life of 32-year-old Michael Barnes was cut short on the evening of Thursday, October 23, 2014. He was discovered by police inside a vehicle, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.
