Tommy Scott Talley, a 19-year-old male from Poolville, Texas, tragically died on April 24, 2020. According to reports, Talley was fatally shot at his home in the 9700 block of West State Highway 199. Witnesses stated that Talley went outside to meet an unknown person and was shot in the roadway before running back to his home, where he collapsed at the doorway. Despite efforts from family members and friends to administer CPR, Talley was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner confirmed that Talley had a gunshot wound in his left arm and chest.
Following the incident, investigators launched a search for the suspect or suspects believed to be armed and dangerous. The Parker County Sheriff's Department urged anyone with information to come forward, offering a reward through Parker County Crime Stoppers.
In the course of the investigation, 20-year-old Jared Leonard Little, who was 17 at the time of the murder, was identified as the perpetrator. Little was involved in a marijuana transaction with Talley and shot him during an attempted robbery. Little later pleaded guilty to the murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison. He will be required to serve 22 1/2 years before becoming eligible for parole. The court proceedings included victim impact statements from Talley's family, who described him as gentle, kind, and fun-loving.
The case was handled by District Attorney Jeff Swain and Assistant District Attorney Abby Placke, who worked to ensure that justice was served for Talley's family. The resolution of the case brought some closure to Talley's loved ones, although the loss of such a young life remains deeply felt.
