Landin was also involved in the Future Farmers of America and enjoyed shooting and building guns with his stepdad. He had a passion for video games, fishing, and spending time with his dog, Bentley.
On the fateful day of June 9, 2020, Landin and his cousin, Klayton Manning, an 18-year-old Caucasian male, were riding a side-by-side vehicle on a country road near Luling, Texas. The two cousins were inseparable and shared a close bond. Unfortunately, their lives were cut short when they were shot and killed by Bryan Haynes, an Austin man. According to the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office, Haynes believed that "aliens" were chasing him on an ATV, which led him to fire his gun multiple times, resulting in the deaths of Landin and Klayton.
