Christina Delacruz, a 37-year-old woman from San Antonio, Texas, tragically lost her life on July 5, 2020. Christina, who was of Hispanic descent, was kidnapped and killed in an execution-style murder. Her body was found on the Southeast Side of San Antonio, near SE Loop 410 and W.W. White Road. The circumstances surrounding her death were harrowing, as she was shot in the back of the head.
The investigation into Christina Delacruz's death revealed that she was kidnapped along with two
other individuals on July 4, 2020. The kidnapping was orchestrated by Rogelio Sanchez, a 30-year-old man, and an unidentified accomplice. The motive behind the kidnapping and subsequent murder was retaliation for the overdose death of Sanchez's sister. Sanchez believed that Christina and the other kidnapped individuals were involved in his sister's overdose.
On the day of the kidnapping, Sanchez and his accomplice approached Christina and two other men at a residence on Omaha Street in San Antonio. They forced the victims into a white four-door vehicle and drove them to a secluded area. During the ordeal, one of the male victims was taken out of the vehicle and shot, but his body was not immediately found by the police. The remaining victims, including Christina, were driven to another location where they were ordered to lie face down on the ground. Christina was then shot in the back of the head, while the other male victim managed to escape after the gun malfunctioned.
Rogelio Sanchez was subsequently arrested and indicted for capital murder and aggravated kidnapping. The Bexar County Grand Jury charged him with these crimes, and he remains in custody. The investigation also revealed that this was not the first instance of kidnapping related to the overdose death of Sanchez's sister. Another individual had previously reported being abducted and assaulted by a member of Sanchez's family on the day of the overdose.
The tragic death of Christina Delacruz highlights the devastating consequences of violence and the lengths to which individuals may go in seeking retribution. Her case remains a poignant reminder of the need for justice and the importance of addressing the root causes of such violent acts.
