Patricia Stephens, a 62-year-old woman from De Leon, Texas, tragically lost her life on July 25, 2020. She was one of three victims in a horrific shooting incident that took place in the Oliver Springs Community of Northern Comanche County. The other victims were her 63-year-old husband, Earl Stephens III, and her 18-year-old granddaughter, Ashlyn Smith.
The suspect, Brendan Jenkins, a 22-year-old man, was arrested and charged with capital murder.

Patricia Stephens was critically injured and transported by helicopter to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth, where she succumbed to her injuries. He was quickly identified as the suspect and taken into custody by the De Leon Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Comanche County Sheriff's Office.
Following the incident, a capital murder warrant was issued for Jenkins, and he was held in the Comanche County Jail awaiting trial. The investigation was conducted jointly by the Sheriff's Office and the Texas Ranger Division. In August 2022, Jenkins was found guilty of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
