On the night of August 26, 2020, at approximately 10:48 p.m., Austin Police Department officers responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the 2100 block of Elmont Drive, located just north of East Riverside Drive in Southeast Austin. Upon arrival, they discovered Paul Brown, a 21-year-old African American male, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services transported him to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas.
Despite medical efforts, Paul Brown succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead in the early hours of August 27, 2020, shortly after 4 a.m.
Paul Ty're "Speedy" Brown was born on August 18, 1999, in Austin, Texas, to Monyeakesia Latrice Frank and Terrance Lenard Brown, Sr. At the time of his death, he was a resident of Killeen, Texas.
Following the incident, detectives from the Austin Police Department's aggravated assault and homicide units, along with crime scene specialists, conducted a thorough investigation. They processed the scene, interviewed witnesses, and canvassed the area for surveillance footage. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office performed an autopsy to determine the official cause and manner of Paul Brown's death.
As of the latest available information, the Austin Police Department has not announced any arrests or identified any suspects in connection with the fatal shooting of Paul Brown.
