On the night of his death, Sellers and his friend, Dontrelle Sutton, were walking to a store on Park
Street in Beaumont when they heard "popping noises" and Sellers began to run. Unfortunately, Sellers was shot and pronounced dead at the scene, while Sutton was found injured and taken to the hospital. The investigation revealed that the shooting was a drive-by, and the shooter was in a red, four-door sedan.
Christopher De'Sean Mitchell, an 18-year-old from Port Arthur, Texas, was charged with the murder of Sellers and aggravated assault for the shooting of Sutton.
