Alvin Ray Murray II, a 22-year-old male, tragically lost his life on July 4, 2021, in Dallas, Texas. He was one of three victims killed during a block party in the Hamilton Park neighborhood. The incident occurred shortly after 11:00 p.m. when multiple suspects opened fire on a red Chevrolet Camaro that was driving through the party. Alvin Ray Murray II, along with 19-year-old Hassan Blazer and 17-year-old Mi'quaris Alexander, were fatally shot.
Three other individuals in the car sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation led to the arrest of several suspects. Akil Kearius Anderson, Bryce Jones, Kejuan Lewis, and Taqualon Jones were all charged with capital murder in connection with the shooting. Anderson was identified on video firing at the car and was later found with a rifle in his vehicle. Jones, Lewis, and Taqualon Jones were also indicted for their involvement in the shooting. The suspects were seen on video with rifles and handguns, crouching behind vehicles and appearing to wait for an opportunity to ambush the Camaro.
The motive behind the shooting remains under investigation, and the suspects have not yet provided a voluntary statement. The Dallas Police Department continues to seek information from the public regarding the incident. The case is still ongoing, and the suspects face the possibility of life in prison without parole or the death penalty if found guilty.
