Kathleen Josephine "Katie Jo" Johnson, a 34-year-old woman from Selma, Texas, tragically lost her life on October 26, 2021, in New Braunfels, Texas. She was a victim of domestic violence, which resulted in her death. Katie Jo was known for her adventurous spirit and passion for health and fitness.
On the night of her death, New Braunfels Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired at the intersection of North Live Oak Avenue and West Mill Street.
Upon arrival, they found a male, later identified as Clifton Adam Meneley, holding a handgun and standing next to a Dodge Ram pickup truck. Meneley was uncooperative and belligerent with the officers, but after less-lethal munitions were deployed, he was taken into custody.
Inside the pickup truck, officers discovered Kathleen Josephine Johnson, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as Meneley's girlfriend. An autopsy was ordered, and Meneley was charged with murder, a first-degree felony. He was taken to the Comal County Jail, where bond was set at $250,000. The case remains an open and active investigation by the New Braunfels Police Department Criminal Investigations Division.
