Denise Nobles Wells, a 63-year-old woman from Navasota, Texas, tragically passed away on January 13, 2022. She was fatally shot during an overnight incident at her residence on the 900 block of Millican Street. According to Navasota Police Chief Shawn Myatt, officers responded to a report of shots fired around 1:30 a.m. Initial reports indicated that an intruder kicked in the door and began firing, prompting an exchange of gunfire. During this exchange, Denise was shot and killed. The police identified a person of interest but had not made any arrests as of January 18, 2022. The investigation was ongoing, and the public was assured that there was no broader danger.
Denise was well-known and loved in her community. Born on January 4, 1959, she was the third child of five siblings and was known for her role as the peacekeeper in her family. She graduated from Navasota High School in 1979 and had a diverse career in retail, food service, and healthcare. At the time of her death, she had recently retired from Seasons Assisted Living, where she made a significant impact on the lives of the residents. Denise was remembered for her gorgeous sky blue eyes and contagious laughter. She is survived by her son, Laryn Russell Nobles, and a daughter she raised, Sha'Meka Nobles Moran, along with numerous other family members and friends.
The incident was described as isolated, and the police urged anyone with information to come forward. The community mourned the loss of Denise, who was cherished for her kindness and dedication to others. The investigation continued as authorities worked to bring those responsible to justice.
