On April 4, 2016, Kawynn Humphries, aged 32, was found shot and killed in the 5900 block of Cates Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was discovered lying in the street near the city's western border. Humphries' death was one of three homicides that occurred during a particularly violent night in St. Louis, which underscored the ongoing struggle with gun violence in the area.
