In the early morning hours of August 13, 2016, the innocence of childhood was shattered by a hail of gunfire in Kansas City, Missouri. Eight-year-old Montell M. Ross was at home with his cousins, engaged in the simple joys of playing video games. The boys, who had been at church earlier in the evening, were spending the night together. Suddenly, their home was targeted in a violent shooting, with reports suggesting that as many as two dozen shots were fired into the residence.
