Victor C. Benner, a Special Policeman with the Illinois Central Railroad Police Department, was tragically killed on December 7, 1911, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was 31 years old at the time of his death. Benner, along with Deputy Marshal Dillaway and another deputy marshal, was riding on a switch engine traveling from the McLemore Yards to the Nonconnah Yards.
