In the quiet town of Tazewell, Tennessee, a routine traffic stop on a May evening in 1991 spiraled into a tragic act of violence that ended the life of a respected law enforcement officer. Douglas Wayne Tripp, a 42-year-old white male and a veteran trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, was fatally shot just before midnight on May 18, 1991.
