Douglas Wayne Tripp, a 42-year-old white male, was a well-respected Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper who tragically lost his life on May 18, 1991, in Tazewell, Tennessee. The incident occurred during a routine traffic stop at the Tazewell Muffler Shop. Tripp was in the process of writing a speeding ticket to John Henry Wallen when he was brutally gunned down.
