In a heartbreaking incident in Cleveland, Tennessee, a three-year-old Caucasian girl named Kydalynn Jade Louise Graham died on May 30, 2012. The young girl's life was cut short after she and her two-year-old cousin discovered a. 45 caliber handgun while they were playing inside a home. The initial investigation into the tragic event pointed towards the death being an accidental, self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Following a thorough investigation by the Bradley County Sheriff's Department, a
grand jury brought forth charges against four of Kydalynn's family members. Her grandfather, Tommie Graham, who was a state trooper, along with her grandmother, Deborah Louise Graham, her mother, Jennifer Haylee Graham, and her aunt, Elizabeth Hayden Graham, all faced charges of reckless endangerment and criminally negligent homicide.
The four family members subsequently turned themselves in at the Bradley County Jail. After their surrender, they were all released on their own recognizance as they awaited their arraignment in criminal court. In the wake of the incident, Tommie Graham was placed on discretionary leave from his duties as a state trooper, although the circumstances of his granddaughter's death were not related to his professional responsibilities.
